	SMITHSONIAN GLOBAL SOUND FOR LIBRARIES Tondatenbank mit über 35.000 Tracks aus dem renommierten Smithsonian Folkways-Archiv. Smithsonian Global Sound bietet eine breite Auswahl musikalischer Darbietungen aus aller Welt, indexiert u.a. nach geographischen Regionen, Instrumenten, Sprachen, Künstlern und Ethnien. Das 1948 von Moses Asch und Marian Distler gegründete US-amerikanische Label Folkways Records veröffentlichte u.a. ursprünglichen amerikanischen Blues, Country und Bluegrass, europäischen Folk, Musik von afrikanischen Trommlern und indonesischen Gamelan-Orchestern. Abgedeckt werden eine Vielzahl von musikalischen Richtungen, Genres und Ausdrucksformen wie Blues, Jazz, Spiritual, Gospel, Bürgerkriegslieder, Sklavenlieder, Rhythm & Blues, u.a. Die Sammlung, die nach Abschluss über 15.000 Kompositionen mit einem Gesamtumfang von rund 400.000 Seiten umfassen wird, wird durch differenzierte Titelaufnahmen erschlossen, die nach zahlreichen frei kombinierbaren Kategorien durchsucht werden können (u.a. Komponist, Titel, musikalische Gattung, Epoche, Partiturtyp, Tonart, Besetzung, Sprache, Entstehungsjahr, Verlag). Classical Scores Library contains 400,000 pages of the most important classical music scores, manuscripts, and previously unpublished material, allowing for the study and analysis of more than 8,000 musical scores.
