Historische chinesische Textsammlung des Kaisers Qianlong (1711-1799) im Volltext- und Faksimileformat. Siku quanshu ("Die Vollständige Bibliothek der Vier Schätze", 1773-1782) stellt das Ergebnis des wohl größten Editionsprojektes der Menschheitsgeschichte überhaupt dar, in dessen Verlauf über 350 Gelehrte aus allen Teilen des Reiches Expertisen (tiyao) zu rund 10.000 historischen, philosophischen, literarischen und naturwissenschaftlichen Schriften verfassten, von denen eine Auswahl von rund 3.500 Werken textkritisch bearbeitet und kommentiert und in der Textsammlung zusammengestellt wurde. Diese Textsammlung, von der insgesamt lediglich sieben Abschriften hergestellt wurden, umfasst über 36.000 Bände mit rund 4,7 Millionen Seiten und bildet bis heute den Grundstein der chinesischen Literatur. Die Professional Version und die Online-Version bieten neben der Volltextrecherche verschiedene Möglichkeiten der feldbezogenen Suche, so z.B. nach Titel, Autor, Schlagwort, Signatur oder einer bestimmten Seite.

The greatest and rare Chinese publication Wen Yuan Ge Ben - Siku Quanshu (Complete Collection in Four Treasures) CD-ROM version was developed by Jinan Huiwen Science and Technology Development Center and published by Wu Han University Publishing House for the first time in 1998. It is the winner of the 1999 National Award of China.

A Collection of 3460 Classics

Siku Quanshu is an invaluable cultural assets of China and a monumental work for academic studies. Siku Quanshu has collected more than 3,460 classical works of China referring to philosophy, history, literature and art, political systems, social studies, economics, astronomy and geography, mathematics, medical studies, etc. These classics represent a major Chinese cultural legacy and the essence of five thousand year Chinese civilization.

Siku Quanshu, being the largest encyclopaedic collection of Chinese classical works systematically compiled, provides an extremely valuable treasure for scholars who are interested in Chinese studies.

Jing Bu (Classics)

It contains all classical works of Ru jia (School of the Learned) including collected commentaries and explanations, such as Si shu (Four Books), Wu jing (Five Classics), Shangshu Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on the Book of Documents), Zhouli Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on the Rites of Zhou), Liji Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on the Records of Rites), Chunqiu Zuozhuan Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on the Spring and Autumn Annals and Zuozhuan), Xiaojing Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on the Classic of Filial Piety), Yueshu (Musical Writing), Erya Zhushu (The Notes and Commentaries on Erya), Yuding Kangxi Zidian (Kangxi Dictionary) and the followings, etc.

Shi Bu (Records)

It contains all classics related to chronology, genealogy, biography, geography, government book, catalogue and commentary on dynasties including collected commentaries and explanations, such as Ershisi Shi (Twenty-Four Histories), Zhushu Jinian (Annals on Bamboo), Zizhi Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror for Government), Yizhoushu (Records of Zhou Dynasty),Zhanguoce(Strategies of the Warring States), Gu Lienu Zhuan (Biographies of Famous Ladies in Ancient Time), Shandong Tongzhi (The General Annals of Shandong), Shitong and the followings, etc.

Zi Bu (Scholars)

It contains all classical works related to or written by great Chinese scholars specializing in areas of Education, Chinese Medicine, Agriculture, Military Strategy, Astrology, Mathmatics, Arts and Literature, such as Sun Zi's Art of War, Wu Zi's Art of War, Guan Zi, Han Fei Zi, Qimin Yaoshu (Important Arts of the Common People), Bencao Gangmu, Shennong Bencao Jingshu (Commentaries on Shennong's Canon of Materia Medica), Laozi Daode Jing and the followings, etc.

Ji Bu (Collections)

It contains all classics of great Chinese poets, novelists, writers, commentators and politicians, such as , Meng Hao Ran Ji (A Collection of Meng Hao-ran), Dongpo Quanji (A Complete Collection of Su Dong-po), Mingtaizu Wenji (A Collection of Emperor Taizu's Essays), Wanshou Tangren Jueju (Ten Thousand Jueju by Poets of Tang), Yuding Quantangshi (A Complete Edition of Tang Poetry Granted by Emperor) and the followings, etc.

Graphic Input Version of 163 CD-ROM

The original Siku Quanshu includes more than 79,000 volumes, approximately 2.5 million pages and near 1 billion Chinese characters. Now the amazing Siku Quanshu was condensed into 163 CD-ROMs. The Siku Quanshu CD-ROM version is a graphic input version. It reflects the original image of the Manuscripts. It includes the full contents of the book, including the General Catalogue, Jing Bu, Shi Bu, Zi Bu, Ji Bu and the Textual Validation. General Catalogue has only one CD-ROM. It is on Disk No.SK001. Jing Bu has 23 CD-ROM (No.SK101-SK123). Shi Bu has 46 CD-ROM (No.SK201-SK246). Zi Bu has 38 CD-ROM (No.SK301-SK338). Ji Bu has 45 CD-ROM (No.SK401-SK445).

With Searchable Function

The eBook is searchable by catalogue, author name, book title, dynasty and disk serial numbers.

Auxiliary Functions

Auxiliary functions of the eBook includes leaving a mark, a sign, or a comment on anywhere of the text. The text can be saved or printed out as required. Others include Zooming in, Cutting and Pasting. The eBook is also support a local network link if a multi-user license is authorized.

Comprises of 167 CD-ROMs, stores 4.7 million pages of scanned images of original scripts and 1.8 million subtitles.

It provides various search functions including searching by original catalogue, concise catalogue, author name and composite search. It is presented in original script for examination to ensure its authenticity. Other tools include copy and edit function, printing and online dictionaries.

Standard Version also provide references of the ancient Chinese language such as Contents of the Electronic Version of Wenyuange Siku Quanshu, A Dictionary for the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature, The Classical Chinese Language Dictionary which help for research work.

Standard Version provides standalone version only.

Data is presented in both searchable full-text version and scanned images of original scripts. Users can copy and paste the scanned images of original scripts and text data and make notes for personal use. Other facilities include copy and edit, notes, print and online dictionary tools.

The Professional Version also provide references of the ancient Chinese language such as Contents of the Electronic Version of Wenyuange Siku Quanshu, A Dictionary for the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature, The Classical Chinese Language Dictionary which help for research work

Every single word in the text data is linked to The Classical Chinese Language Dictionary for quick reference.

Professional Version has 2 different versions: Standalone and Network Version


Professional Network Version

It stores 4.7 million pages of scanned images of original scripts and provides full-text retrieval functions of over 700 million Chinese characters.

The Professional Network Version specifically is designed for the network environment of a campus or environment and it can be used simultaneously with 5 to 20 users. It also provides administration tool for access control.

Data is presented in both searchable full-text version and scanned images of original scripts. Users can copy and paste the scanned images of original scripts and text data and make notes for personal use. Other facilities include copy and edit, notes, print and online dictionary tools.

The Professional Network Version also provide references of the ancient Chinese language such as Contents of the Electronic Version of Wenyuange Siku Quanshu, A Dictionary for the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature, The Classical Chinese Language Dictionary which help for research work.


Individual Version

Individual Version is tailor made for individual users which stores 4.7 million pages of scanned images of original scripts and provides topic search function of the 90 thousand topics of Siku Quanshu.

It provides various search functions including searching by original catalogue, concise catalogue, author name and composite search. It is same as Standard Version, which is presented by original script for examination and to ensure its authenticity. Other tools include copy and edit function, printing and online dictionaries.

Individual Version offers print function for printing on search result, original scripts and notes. The version also provides references of the ancient Chinese language such as Contents of the Electronic Version of Wenyuange Siku Quanshu, A Dictionary for the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature, The Classical Chinese Language Dictionary which help for research work.


Intranet Version

Has the same functions of the Professional Version but the Intranet Version is designed for a secure network environment in a campus or library. Compared with the Professional Network Version, the Intranet Version allows users to access the SKQS database in a secure network environment by using web browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0 or above). This feature extends the product usage flexibility.

To summarise, it has been further enhanced in the following 4 major functions:

1. Simplified User Access

Users of the Intranet Version can access Siku Quanshu database in the secure network by using web browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0 or above) instead of installing client program on each computer as required by the Network Version.

2. Effective Control of User Right

IP lock control and individual user account enable institutions to effectively control the user access to the database.

3. Supported with Usage Report

The Statistical Tool enables institutions to master the usage information of the Intranet Version such as the usage frequency, duration and unsuccessful login records.

4. Enhanced Personalised Research Tool

"Personal Bookmark", "Search Criteria History" and "Administration Tool" further enrich the product functionality and personalisation features.


Siku Quanshu Online

Siku Quanshu Online has the basic functions of the Professional Version and provides full-text retrieval functions of approximately 800 million Chinese characters. Data is presented in both searchable full-text version and scanned images of original scripts. The database also provides references of the ancient Chinese language such as the Dictionary for the Complete Library in Four Branches of Literature, the Classical Chinese Language Dictionary and other tools which absolutely help doing research work.

The Electronic Version of Sikuquanshu (Wenyuange Edition)

A new version of the Electronic Version of Sikuquanshu is going to be launched this year. Users can enjoy reading an 800 million-character database furnished with a character set comprising more than 70,000 characters of the international Unicode Standard ISO/IEC10646:2003. Together with the newly constructed 10,000 private-use characters, there will be a total of more than 80,000 characters available for searching. After years of study, research and collecting user feedback, the new version will also been enhanced in terms of search and research convenience to meet the needs of users.
