In addition to the reference works, handbooks and book series already available on the platform, ScienceDirect includes over 8,000 monographs as of 2010. Covering a wide range of scientific disciplines, including those published under the renowned Pergamon and Academic Press imprints, ebooks are fully integrated with the existing books and journals on SciVerse ScienceDirect. Over 400 books will be added annually. One search on the easy-to-use platform will show your users all the relevant literature in their subject area on SciVerseScienceDirect. You can be confident they won't miss anything, and will quickly gain broad insight and perspective to make their research more productive. Purchasing and Access Options eBooks on SciVerse ScienceDirect Option One: Books Subject Collections A one-time payment option which gives access to all titles within 21 defined subject collections. Within each subject area, collections are available per year of publication. For example, the 2008 or 2009 chemistry collection. Special collection discounts are available. Libraries can also choose to purchase a backlist collection of all titles within a specific subject area that have been published prior to 2006. Option Two: Pick and Choose A one time payment option for the pick and choose option which gives access to the titles selected from all available titles on SciVerse ScienceDirect and across all subject areas. Users will have access to all titles purchased for as long as the library continues to subscribe to SciVerse ScienceDirect. Books on SciVerse ScienceDirect may be purchased regardless of whether or not you already have an institutional SciVerse ScienceDirect license. Existing SciVerse ScienceDirect customers will receive a simple amendment to existing contract agreements. New customers who only sign up for the eBooks need to pay an annual maintenance fee of 5% of the purchased value. Online-only access to books is purchased separately from the print version. The fee is charged according to the number of full-time equivalents (FTEs) within your institution. FTEs are defined as full-time and part-time students, faculty, and distance learners within an institution. Please note that colleges that do not offer graduate programs may apply for special pricing arrangements. Option Three: Clear your shelves! Acquire e-book copies of the most valuable and highly used print books in your library catalogue. Simply create a list with ISBN/ISSN numbers from your holdings and we'll create a customized list of eBooks to provide more content coverage that's available to more users at a more valuable price. |
