Africa Development Indicators (ADI) provides the most comprehensive collection of data on Africa available. It contains data for over 1,400 statistical indicators and time series from 1960 for 53 countries. Data include social, economic, financial, natural resources, infrastructure, governance, partnership, and environmental indicators.

Just in case you are wondering about the differences between ADI and WDI, ADI differs from WDI in at least the following ways:

- ADI has data for all countries in Africa, including those with less than one million total population;

- it provides Africa-specific aggregates such as "North Africa" (the "NA" part of "MENA" with Djibouti), "Africa", "Sub-Saharan Africa excluding South Africa", and "Sub-Saharan Africa excluding South Africa and Nigeria";

- it offers a MDG-specific chapter (WDI has the data, but not necessarily in such a format);

- it offers a time series-like presentation for national accounts and other macroeconomic statistics (1980, 1990, 1991, 1992,...);

- it presents the CPIA (IRAI-- IDA resource allocation index) for countries whose data may be released for 2005 and 2006 (more on that at http://go.worldbank.org/S2THWI1X60)

- it also has the household survey data.
