Die Nag-Hammadi-Schriften stellen eine Sammlung von frühchristlichen Texten hauptsächlich gnostischer Orientierung dar, die 1945/46 in der Nähe des kleinen ägyptischen Ortes Nag Hammadi von ansässigen Bauern gefunden wurde. Der Fund, welcher aus 13 Papyrus-Codices aus der ersten Hälfte des 4. Jahrhunderts besteht, enthält eine Sammlung von 47 unterschiedlichen Texten, die vermutlich vorwiegend im 1. oder 2. Jahrhundert in Ägypten verfasst wurden. Die meisten dieser Schriften, die aus verschiedenen Richtungen der Gnosis stammen, aber auch stärker (früh-)kirchlich geprägte sowie hermetisch und weisheitlich ausgerichtete Texte umfassen, waren bis dahin größtenteils unbekannt. Die Schriften beinhalten u.a. die Evangelien der Apostel Thomas und Philippus, das »Evangelium der Wahrheit« sowie mehrere Fassungen des »Apokryphon des Johannes« und eine Reihe von Apokalypsen. Die Funde von Nag Hammadi sind neben Qumran die wichtigsten Dokumente für die Erforschung des frühen Christentums und der Gnosis. Der Online-Ausgabe liegt die von 1975 bis 1995 in 14 Bänden veröffentlichte Printausgabe zugrunde.

The Coptic Gnostic Library contains all the texts of the Nag Hammadi codices, both in the original Coptic and in translation. Each text has its own introduction, and full indexes are provided.
