Founded by Louis Littman in memory of his father to explore, explain, and perpetuate the Jewish heritage, the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization published its first book in 1965. The Littman E-Library was launched in March 2017, giving readers access to the definitive scholarship and careful editing that characterize Littman books, but on a fully searchable digital platform.

What are the benefits to libraries?

• The Littman Library of Jewish Civilization was established by Louis Littman in 1965 to explore, explain, and perpetuate the Jewish heritage with work from leading scholars known as experts in their fields.
• In 2025, there will be over 170 volumes are available in the digital library with over 40,000 pages of solid research in Jewish studies across a comprehensive range of subject areas including biography, cultural studies, history and art history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, and women’s studies.
• The Littman E-Library draws on research from across the world, including much work originally published in languages other than English.
