Verlagsinformation :: Publisher's information Brill's Encyclopedia of Taiwan Studies is a new major reference work presenting a comprehensive overview of the rich scope of Taiwan studies, a discipline that took root in the 1990s in Taiwan and around the world. The birth of Taiwan studies reflected an important epistemic challenge in the existing academic landscape of sinology and China studies, as it called for a dedicated focus on Taiwan's history, society, culture, economy, politics, and international relations, in its own right. The Encyclopedia is a portal to the multifaceted world of Taiwan, with its vibrant culture, important developments, and radical transformations. It contains over 600 entries, edited by 15 leading Taiwan Studies experts from Taiwan and authored by about 400 worldwide scholars. The Encyclopedia was launched with 30% of the total contents in November 2023, with the rest of the contents published gradually by the end of 2024. A print edition (4 volumes) will be published in 2025. |
